Wow, she's dumb.

Does it make me a bad person to not want to be around somebody who complains all the time? Who talks about their ex-boyfriend all the time? Who is overall not fun to be around? Who says really stupid shiz? I don't think so and if it does you can suck it. I can't help that chomping and unintelligent conversation are two things that drive me bananas. I was born this way.

At the same time I hung out with a friend that I do enjoy spending time with, Erika Takahashi. I know it's weird to think that someone with the last name Takahashi could even speak the same language as me, but she does, and in fact she can't even speak Japanese. Why do I enjoy spending the very little time that I have spent with her... well reason number one, she isn't a stupid girl! Reason number 2 she is from Canada, reason number three she watches all my stupid online classes videos and still wants to be my friend.

Oh and I come home in 2 weeks, thats 14 days, 336 hours, 20 160 minutes, 1 209 600 seconds. I mean really though, who is counting.

So in jr high school I enjoyed this song, it's about a stupid girl and how I'm sick of them. Still valid to this day.

Le Printemps

Cliff jumping and rope swing - right off the pali highway.. super good time.

Hiking Crouching Lion

Skateboarding

Books on the plage
The weather has been beautiful here and I have found that I have a lot of time on my hands. I often goto the beach just to think, relax, and to read. I just recently read the Alchemist. I highly recommend it to anyone. It's a solid read, not to long or too difficult to understand but thought provoking and just overall radical.

Recent favorite songs.... enjoy

Spring Term

School

I'm back at it. Been at it for about a week and a half. I am thus far enjoying this term, classes are good because I can work at my own speed. I am getting ahead in my online classes and staying on schedule for my real class. I feel a lot less stressed and take time to enjoy the nice weather on the beach. School is good, I'm enjoying it.

Friends

I love my friends. I love my friends in Canada, I love my friends in Hawaii, from the mission, who happen to be all over. Lately I've been able to spend time with some Rad people. Chase has been back in the social scene.. it's nice to spend time with him, who woulda thought that when we met back in Besancon in my apartment that we would actually end up going to the same school in Hawaii. I went to town with him and Skee on Saturday and just had a great time, we hiked to some waterfall in town.. that's right there is a hike in town to a waterfall. It was way pretty and fun, we got to hike in the twilight which added an incredible aspect.

I have been trying to notice lately all the amazing things that I am blessed with in my life and I'm so glad that good friends are one of them. I'm sad that I don't get to have all of my friends in one place at one time, because that would be SICK. A few people went home after this winter semester and I am sad to have seen them fly away, but thats one thing that I have come to realize sometimes friendships will only last for a season, so get stoked on them and enjoy!

Forward girls

I always thought that I would enjoy a girl being blatantly obvious when she expressed her desire to be on me. I found out that I'm not so stoked on it. Why am I talking about this.. let me elaborate. Dan Baradoy left this rock, but before he left his father, him, and I all went to Hukilau Cafe for breakfast. Now if you don't know what Hukilau cafe is your missing out, and if you think you know...(isn't it on 50 first dates... your wrong. The name of the cafe is but the actual location is incorrect) Anyways for those who are unaware Dan Baradoy is a good looking young fellow.

And this girl at the cafe also seemed to think so. So she got her friend to drop a lil note off at our table and it read " You're Hot. Name. 808-678-8967"(number isn't real) Pretty rad, I mean that is quite the compliment. So Dan calls her and we take her to the beach. Fast forward a week. I get a text after church from a friend who says "my roommate has a crush on you." My thoughts are this is different, it's been awhile since I've had someone say this to me. So I ask who, and she tells me. I don't really know what to say so I'm like... Cool. Then I get invited to hot tub with just forward girl.. just us two. This is a little uncomfortable for me, a stance I feel justified in taking. I don't want to hot tub so I straight up get out of it by saying I don't feel comfortable hanging out in a hot tub with this girl, and kinda make up some other excuse, thinking and hoping that thats the end of it. Later I end up going to play games at the A frame house. Not just any game a super intense fun game of signs. I mean it didn't get much better as far as a game of signs goes. After a half hour guess who shows up.. thats right forward girl with her roommates, which is fine, but dang did I feel awkward. I'm sure if someone was paying close attention the color of my face may have changed a few hues. I think that is why I came to the conclusion that forward girls are not as rad as I thought.

School is out

I am finished. Finals, papers, everything. All I need to do in the next 10 days is apply to renew my passport, get a bank account here, get more tanned, surf, skate, and find out what the deal is with my student loans.

I am so happy, the last 2 or 3 weeks I have been cooped up in a library writing papers studying and overall being lame. I am fairly certain that I got 3 A's and 2 B's. Which is not bad at all. I actually don't mind getting A's. But I mean now it's over and I don't have to be in the Library, I feel freedom.

I am grateful that I have an awesome teacher at school who really helps me to do well and even basically offered me a job as her TA. I think I will take it, she is really well connected and is a really smart lady. I am stoked that she is helping me. She even introduced me to the past and current president of the BYU-management Society so that I can network.

Well here's a video to help you pass the time.

Anger Management

School Sucks. I suck at basketball. Social life in Laie sucks. Being poor sucks a lot. Writing tests every week sucks. Being dating retarded sucks. Living with four dudes in a two room apartment sucks, but luckily it's now one less than 5. It does feel good to vent though.

Yesterday was a gong show. A roller coaster. Sometimes I think the vicissitudes of life are going to mess me up real good. The day started off fairly good I guess. I went to school studied for my two tests that I had that day and then I ate some subway, talked with some cool dudes and saw this neat girl on my way back to school. Then I found out I have no money... Sin. I start stressing. Go write a test, super stressed the whole time. I don't even know if I did well. Get out of my test, wish my sister a happy 29th bday. Sort out money issues and then I go and write my bio test. 20 mins in and out. I love writing tests quick... I already studied for hours for the stupid thing I don't wanna be spending hours just to write it. And yes I say write test and not take. If you have a problem with that I recommend finding a busy intersection and then going to play in it. Acrimony might be a by product of my life right now. Well I killed that test, which made me feel good cause I absolutely bombed the previous one. Anyways after this I go and take a much needed break from school for the next couple hours.

Basketball game. Fudge I suck at basketball. I like to play but not when I suck. We lost, and the other team was super cocky and just arrogant. Made me not stoked... wasn't fun. So I left the game upset, angry that I couldn't perform to my own standards. Went straight to the gym and worked out. That was great. Couldn't even really move after I was done, however as if there aren't enough rules at this school but I was told that I can't wear one of my v necks to work out. In normal gyms you can wear jerseys but not here, it's immodest. Whatever, dumb rule but what can I do, being here is worth the extra year that I don't have to take of school at a university in Canada.

And for the icing on the cake I happened to be ditched, Twice, by two different girls. Fudge.

Anyways I have been listening to band of horses alot lately check out this track. super good.

Tsunamis Tsuck

So this weekend we had a bit of a scare. I woke up at 5 on Saturday morning to talk of a Tsunami hitting the island at 1030. We all woke up talked about the decision to stay or to go up to gunstock ranch or behind the temple. Dan and I decided that the waves were not going to be big enough to engulf the house. It was reported that the sea level would swell 6 feet and then waves would hit that were 9 feet high. That is only an extra 15 feet above the normal sea level so we stayed home. We ran to Foodland which had been open for the last 24 hours and picked up some water then came home and prepared for the worst. It was funny how the news predicted the worst, they had shown reports of when the last tsunami hit hawaii and killed something like 150 people. We thought that some gnarly waves were going to hit. Well we waited, and waited... nothing happened. Luckily the tsunami missed us and we didn't have to worry about the repercussions. Well I survived a tsunami.. Whats up!

In other news I love Canada, and I love the Olympics and I am stoked that we won 14 gold and won the hockey gold in both womens and mens. I will be sad that the Olympics are over, but guess what World Cup this summer! Whats up!

Visitors

Big Fan of the awkward hug

Bye bye matty, it's been a dream

Ben Scott and Matt

So this last week and a half we have had some fellow Canadians here filling our little house to overflow, it has been nice though. Surfing adventures, beach lounging, and house parties have been some of the highlights. On one particular occasion Mr. McLeish cut open his foot nice and big and deep one some coral. He swam for about 20 minutes with it bleeding all over the place.. luckily it didn't attract some sharks. Let me tell you about this quaint little burger place we hit up fairly often, Kahuku Grill. It's quite delicious and actually one of my classmates families own the place. We also have enjoyed a few ted's pies, and melona bars which are always a good choice when on the north shore.

Skateboarding

Much progress has been made. I have successfully dropped in, rock and rolled, pivoted, and tail stalled. Good times had by all.

Maunawili's Night Hike.

Super fun, would like to give a solid shout out to Mr. Ryan Weed for taking this event upon himself. He did a really great job. We hiked a mile and a half in the dark with flashlights and glowsticks to the maunawili falls. Once we arrive around 50 of us get in our bathing suits and throw our glowsticks in the water and start jumping in off the cliffs. Road flares were also used ,which were genius, to light up the falls area so that people could scale this super sketchy wall to jump off a 25 ft cliff. Gainers, backflips, and other fun tricks were all thrown down, and thankfully no one got hurt. Trip back was fun, super muddy, and I wasn't super stoked when I rolled my ankle but it's going to be all good.

Andrew Bird

Last night was the Andrew Bird concert in town. It was super fun, good crew and rad music. This guy is an amazing musician. He was all by himself making music. What he did is he would play a melody and then make it loop on a machine while he added more music to loop or played another instrument. He did this with a guitar, violin, and some incredible whistling skills. It was super entertaining, he was funny with his witty banter. Might I also add he may of debut a song that he wasn't supposed too.. haaha radical.

Weekend

Weekend
Sunday Dinner
Got the hook ups. Roast beef and potatoes at the landlords then a quick home teaching visit then to Nate and Katie's for some delicious stuffed chicken. I swear that kid is a magician. This is not a regular occurrence that I eat this well. I did savor every single delicious bite.

Skating
So I went and skated a mini ramp today. I suck. It was fun. I enjoy it, I can't drop in yet and getting used to the mini ramp was painful. I would like you to imagine me slamming numerous times in to the ramp. Yup worth it. I went with some buddies who are super good, a couple married guys and Chase(my comp from the mish) and Pat. One of the guys wives skated for a lil bit, I daresay we are of the same caliber.. depressing. There was also a visit by the skate ramp shanker! this lil gromit saw his dad on the ramp and wanted to come one, only problem was that he was holding a stick and a knife. He didn't put up a fight to drop the stick but he did not want to drop the knife. After a lil more coaxing he threw the knife grudgingly to the ground and ran up the ramp. super funny.

Basketball.
byuh played HPU, super fun game. We we're up by quite a bit until half and then the game was by 10 until the last 2 mins and then pandemonium. Some full court D and some crazy buzzer beater shots to end the game. Super fun.

Beach
So I went to the north shore this weekend. I saw Kelly Slater, he pretty much slayed everything, it was truly radical to watch this guy surf. I also saw some of my buddie surfing near him, Mr Toone, Mr. Masterson, Mr. Owsley, and Mr. Carlston who was on a soft top with no fins.. It was rad seeing him charging waves.

Clubs
So I've embraced my inner nerd since moving here. I am now the treasurer of the math club, a member of students for international development and a member of professional accounting society. Some of the really cool clubs at BYU-H. Yup that cool.

Town
So Dan and I went into town today. We picked up his hard drive so that he doesn't need to use my computer anymore and went to Walmart. We also stopped by nordstrom rack, unfortunatly it was closed however I think that it was worth the stop to see the tool sitting in front of the store. I think I should have let him know that frosted tips are not cool, nor are green track suits from hollister, and having a blackberry and a benz do not automatically make you cool. Haha. Also another gem of people that I witnessed were these lesbians at walmart. Not overly frumpy but obviously very white trash with tank tops and short short, actually in Hawaii that isn't very white trash, but the tattoo's told the story. Imagine if you will an eagle on the bicep, a wolf on the forearm. Beautiful. Love this place. And I got a great deal on a new pillow. Stoked

Zach Galifianakis

I would just like to say that I do not condone the off color things he says but ever since I watched out cold in grade 10 I have thought that this guy is just sooo funny.

Hawaii

Arrived.

I made it to Hawaii, the trip was somewhat painful and forsure lengthy. I arrived in Vancouver after an hour delay in Kelowna. I quickly came to realize that my flight had again been delayed another 3 hrs which was fine because I was super nervous that I would have problems with my visa. After getting felt up a few times by security I made it through customs with no problems. With the most stressful part of my trip behind me i laid down on some benches and started watching the O.C., and ate some Burger King. Luckily I see one of my buddies Cade stroll in. Our plane was supposed to have left an hour ago. 6 hours after the original boarding time we begin boarding. It's now 12:30 and my ride is no longer coming to get me. We fly to Hawaii, I get a chair that can't recline, bad choice but I still get like one or two hours of sleep. We show up at the airport, no luggage lost, thankfully, and try to start figuring out a way to get to Laie. End up renting a car... without insurance to save some cash, we are poor students after all, and make it to Laie. I ate breakfast at the Hukilau Cafe, for the first time... there was alot of meat on that plate, it was delicious. I had had a burger and sour patch kids in the last 18 hrs so I was stoked.

Housing.

So we move into a place in Kahuku. Super far away, I'm not impressed as I see two cockroaches scurrying about the floor and no coach a hot plate for a stove. So we sleep and the next day I get up and goto school with Dan. Everything is figured out at school I feel good about it. I get a call from Dan, "Hey, how do you feel about living on the point?" "I would more than like it." So we get a spot on the point. Not only is it within walking distance but it is also 50 dollars cheaper a month for rent. Super stoked. Super blessed. Now I live in a 2 room apartment with 3 other dudes and my bathroom looks like one from a prison... brings me back to the mission.

School Starts.
Classes seem like they're going to be Heavy. I realize that we have only three months to finish a semester so there isn't any mellow start; we get right into it. My classes seem tough, but luckily there aren't any distractions in three of them, not so fortunate in Book of Mormon and Bio is yet to be determined as the instructor is to yet to return from Vaca. I'm excited to be back at a real school and working towards graduation.

Church.
Church was decent. Tons of cute girls in my ward and a couple buddies that I'm friends with so I'm stoked. I got to say the closing prayer... it's only a matter of time before they nail me down with a calling.

Beach.
I already hit up the beach. I went to turtle bay with the Williams. Nate studied in the lobby and Chrissy and Katie felt sick, so Vera and I went snorkeling. It was the first time I've really ever gone where I could look at stuff under the water. Super cool, tons of fish there, saw a whole school even.
Also went to a beach by sunset... The waves were gnarly. It was really throwing down at the north shore, felt good to be in the ocean again. Salt in my mouth. Love it.

Home. I miss snowboarding. I miss all my family and friends. I miss being in a place that feels like home. Time to make Hawaii that place.

Photos to come.
