Waterton

Waterton, the home of my summer employ, of bike rides and star gazing. I love that place. I wish I could go back to those days. I loved being nestled in the mountains seeing lil black bears roaming. Going on lone hikes just to think, seeing cameron falls everyday and the prince of whales. I miss the townsite,

I miss the drive into waterton from Cardston, I miss the Lows who were more than kind to me, I miss seeing friends who just happened to show up, and some who were always there. I miss the late nights playing games, going to Big Scoop, my friends at Parks. I miss cruising around in the golf cart up at Crandell and i even kinda miss that stinky van. I miss Grandma's cooking, salmon once a week, haha. I can't wait to see you again my Love(waterton)

Dear Rogers You Suck

Rogers... the current telephone provider that I am in bondage to. I called today to solve a reoccurring question posed to me. Josh why is it that when I call you it says your phone is a long distance number? I had no idea why. I called end of September and asked for a new Edmonton number; why would I have Edmonton locals being charged long distance to call my local Edmonton number, something wasn't adding up. Well I called and checked it out. Seeing as I can't be Josh Cooper and call rogers to figure my stuff out I lied, like I usually do, and was my dad. After an hour we came to the conclusion that long distance fees were waved and I had been given an Edson number instead of an Edmonton number. Which wasn't all that surprising because during one of my conversations I was asked were I lived. I answered Edmonton. Then they asked is that in Calgary? I thought to myself Edmonton and Calgary don't even sound remotely similar what the heck. I said No I live in Edmonton, Calgary is another city. Then they asked which province I lived in. For those who don't know Edmonton is located in the province of Alberta, and Calgary is not a province in Canada nor in any other Country for that matter. Thank you Rogers for your incompetence and I apologize to everyone who incurred long distance fees calling me. Thanks for the Calls!

Dan Pendleton

Don Pendlton has been mentioned before in my blog as just someone I admire as an amazing artist. He now has a new online art show. Check out the site.

-THELOSTTHOUGHT-
I felt a cleaving in my mind
as if my brain had split;
I tried to match it seam by seam,
But could not make them fit.

The thought behind I strove to join
Unto the thought before,
But sequence ravelled out of reach
like balls upon a floor.

The Whitest Boy Alive... I'm not talking about an albino.

The Whitest Boy Alive great band based out of berlin. Erlend Oye, guitar and vocalist, also a member of Kings of Convenience makes this music magical. If you haven't heard of Kings of Convenience may I recommend you check out some of there stuff like the song Cayman Islands. I first heard this song on the For 'um or against 'em snowboarding video, Joni Malmi.

Don Pendleton = RAD

So I do enjoy a lil art. My current favorite artist is a man by the name of Don Pendleton, who you may recognize from skate decks of Alien Workshop as well as Element. His Art is rad, usually just using his computer he throws together kinda abstract cubism radness. Love it.. May have made one of his Skate decks into a t shirt and might make a few more. Here is a few of my personal Favies.

Classic Kicks

Classic Kicks are timeless, original, and just straight up radical. A few classic kicks that I truly love are Vans Authentic's and Era's. Vans are just soo legit, they have been around forever, and they provide a classic skate style shoe that also provides amazing board feel. Vans keeps it together with providing many different collections and colour ways.

Converse - Jack Purcells, I just love 'em. They are soo comfy, clean, and classic in their design. Definately a necessary piece to any shoe lovers collection.

Chuck Taylors, wow what can you say about Chucks? They have been associated with soo many different styles: Basketball kicks, skater, Punk, emo, rocker, choch to name a few. Less comfortable than the purcells but again soo classic, a must have.

Clarks Wallabee - Man these shoes are just sooo freakin comfy. Classic style and colours and just again soo comfy, a must have... however they are really hard to find in Canada so good luck with that.

Boat Shoes - Old men know what's up. Boat shoes are dope and so are cardigans... so is bingo and shuffleboard. I really must be hanging out in the wrong crowd! Not much to say other than you can't go wrong with boat shoes unless you choose a colourway that is ugly as sin..

Kicks

Oh Kicks, I love shoes. A developed a love for shoes early on in my life, a progression from Basketball shoes to big and bulky skate shoes and now into more skate influenced and various other styles of shoes. Recently I have become a big fan of different coloured shoes, straying from the classic black and white and grey kicks. I have a few criteria when I choose a pair of shoes, firstly do they make my already big feet look bigger, if so. I'm not a huge fan, next do I like the look of them when I look down on them. So obviously aesthetics are the most important. I do also enjoy a nice comfortable pair of shoes. Comfortable shoes are ones like Converse Jack Purcells, Clarks Wallabees and I really like my Vans Half Cabs. I will continue to discuss Kicks this is just a explanation to my obession.

Jordans.... sparked an obession??

Cardigans - The apparel of real men

I love Cardigans. This is just a fact. I think that they are super duper. Why? Lets think about this... Cardigans show a certain maturity about a person, it's like saying I am not scared to look like an old man. And why should one be scared of that, Old men know how to work it! Slippers, cardigans, shuffle board, reading dope books, and sipping on tea or some nice Horlicks with ginger snaps. Lets not forget the grape juice and other gross stuff but I mean if I can enjoy all the stuff men wait 40 yrs to enjoy when their bodies start to fall apart I will before my body starts to fall apart, it just seems more enjoyable. In conclusion Cardigans are amazing and I believe that they should be embraced, but maybe not worn by all. It looks like some people are trying to hard when they wear one.

Wrist time pieces

Why are watches an essential part of a man's wardrobe? This time piece not only tells the time but also reflects the personality of the owner. I personally feel that one can tell a lot from a watch, and how it fits with the person, and their style. I enjoy a nice watch that is infused with quality as well as style. I own a Nixon Esquire CS, I really enjoy this watch because of it's functionality but also because of it's smart design and style. Early on in my stay in Europe it fell from a table and broke a plastic casing inside the watch. I later took it to a friend who worked for a swiss watch making company to repair it and was told that the plastic was cheap and could not be replaced but that the watch would function with this break. To say the least I was disappointed with the quality of Nixon's watch's and at that point vowed that I would never but another non-swiss made watch. I then found this green lil beauty. I love the functionality of a calculator watch and have found that many people that I have looked up to in my life be it business men, professors, or mission presidents have all had calculator watches. No they are worth the investment. I love the colour combined with the calculator function to provide a super dope watch. Look out for this sucker on my wrist.

Monsters from the land of Merka

Merkin's My Favourite animal.

The Merkin's native country is Merka which is located in north western europe. I stumbled upon a Merkin while serving a full time mission for The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, in the fine city of Besancon. I was enthralled by the capacity that a merkin has to shapeshift, it's primary defensive mechanism. The artists depiction of a merkin is quite accurate as the beast is completely covered with hair and after it shapeshifts it remains completely covered in hair. Other interesting facts about Merkins are that it only needs to consume Merkalite, a liquid substance that we would compare to a milkshake, in order to survive.
The average life expectancy of a Merkin is 30 yrs, after which the merkin goes to a place called Merktopia, the paradise for merkins if you will. No merkin has ever been murdered as they are invincible to all human and animal attacks, but rather can choose to die at a younger age.
